Our Team

Jay Deal has been an instructor with New England Maritime since the fall of 1996. He retired from the U.S. Coast Guard in 2018 following nearly thirty years of combined active duty and reserve service. Jay currently holds a 200-ton Master endorsed for near coastal waters, able-bodied seaman, able sea-farer unlimited, and various STCW endorsements. He is originally from Lakeland, Florida but washed ashore on Cape Cod in 1993 and lives in Sandwich. When he isn’t working Jay enjoys running, cycling, swimming, cooking and reading just about anything he can get his hands on.
